Regardless, LibreOffice has been *very* actively developed since then and (in my opinion) has improved dramatically. (Maybe not “Gawd Awful,” but definitely not “Gawd DAYum, this is good!”) I seem to recall that LibreOffice forked off after Oracle acquired OpenOffice from Sun and at some point later on looked set to reduce or pull support for it. When I used OpenOffice in PCLinuxOS 11 or 12 years ago, I wasn’t very happy with how unrefined it was compared to MS Office.
